Mission/Vision

De Addiction And Rehabilitation Centers Association Forum

The De-Addiction and Rehabilitation Centres Forum is a platform that brings together de-addiction, treatment and rehabilitation centres, professionals, counsellors, social workers and other stakeholders working towards reducing the impact of substance use in society.

The Forum aims to promote quality treatment, ethical rehabilitation, professional capacity building, awareness, networking and reintegration of persons recovering from substance use disorders into society. The importance of quality, patient-centred and evidence-based treatment is increasingly recognised in India.

Major Activities of the Forum

1. Training and Capacity Building

Conduct training programmes, workshops, seminars and orientation programmes for counsellors, social workers, caregivers and rehabilitation staff.

2. Awareness and Prevention

Organise drug and alcohol awareness programmes in schools, colleges, communities, workplaces and other institutions, supporting national efforts towards prevention and demand reduction.

3. Professional Networking

Create a common platform for rehabilitation centres to share knowledge, experience, best practices, resources and successful recovery models.

4. Quality Improvement

Encourage member centres to follow appropriate standards relating to infrastructure, staffing, documentation, treatment, counselling, patient rights and safety. Tamil Nadu, for example, introduced minimum standards for de-addiction centres in 2025 covering registration, admission, treatment, infrastructure and professional care.

5. Family Support

Conduct family counselling, education and support programmes to help families understand addiction, recovery and relapse prevention.

6. Rehabilitation and Reintegration

Support individuals in rebuilding their lives through education, vocational training, employment assistance, life-skills development and community reintegration.

7. Research and Knowledge Sharing

Encourage research, documentation, outcome measurement and sharing of evidence-based practices in addiction treatment and rehabilitation.

8. Government and Stakeholder Collaboration

Work with government departments, healthcare institutions, law-enforcement agencies, NGOs and community organisations to strengthen prevention, treatment and rehabilitation services. Government programmes in India currently emphasise accessible treatment, rehabilitation, counselling and monitoring of de-addiction services.

9. Advocacy

Represent the concerns and needs of rehabilitation centres and promote policies that improve accessibility, quality, accountability and sustainability of addiction-treatment services.

Conclusion

The De-Addiction and Rehabilitation Centres Forum seeks to unite service providers under a common platform of professionalism, compassion, accountability and recovery. By strengthening rehabilitation centres and developing cooperation among stakeholders, the Forum can contribute significantly towards reducing substance-related harm and helping individuals and families move towards healthy, productive and meaningful lives.
